UP THE BOLT versus RAILROADED (specifying fabric for drapery projects)

Our second Wine & Design event of 2023 is on October 25th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.  Drapery is our most requested window treatment.  And the number one question we get about specifying fabric for drapery projects is understanding the difference between UP THE BOLT and RAILROADED.  If you don’t know what these terms mean, that’s OK!  We will start with the basics and move into more advanced questions like:

  • Can I use any 54″ wide up the bolt fabric for drapery?
  • Can I use any 54″ wide railroaded fabric for drapery?
  • Can I use any 118″ wide railroaded fabric for drapery?
  • Where can I find out if the fabric I want to use is up the bolt or railroaded?
  • Is it better to used 118″ wide railroaded fabric for operable panels?
  • How do I know if a striped fabric will work for drapery?
  • What fabric can I use for oversized panels – both extra tall and extra wide?

The event is being held at our studio located at 1387 Fairport Rd., Suite 885 in Fairport, NY.  Click on the link to register.
